Studying in Denmark

Studying in Denmark — comprehensive preparation for admission to Danish universities

Do you dream of studying in one of Europe’s most innovative countries, but don’t know where to start? Studying in Denmark is an excellent educational decision, yet the application process can be more demanding than it appears. The Polish matura is recognised by Danish universities, but the number of hours in specific subjects, a language certificate and a well-considered applicant profile also matter. At MonPat Education we guide students through the entire process — from grade analysis, through choosing a course of study, to finalising the application.

We help students avoid the most common mistakes: a poor match between their chosen field and subject requirements, underestimating language requirements, or starting preparations too late. The first consultation is free of charge — it is a good moment to assess where your child currently stands and what steps are worth taking today.

Who is this service for?

The studying abroad in Denmark offer is aimed at secondary school students (years 1–3) and their parents who are consciously planning education after completing school. It is particularly well suited to ambitious young people who are curious about the world and ready to take on the challenge of studying in an international environment.

Those who most frequently make use of our support include:

  • students of the Polish matura and IB and A-Levels programmes aiming for prestigious Danish universities,
  • applicants to economics, engineering, business and humanities programmes taught in English,
  • parents who want to provide their child with a calm, well-organised application process instead of navigating a maze of requirements alone,
  • students who need a competitive edge in the form of a strong academic CV and a well-thought-out strategy.

Why is it worth considering studying in Denmark?

Denmark is a country that prioritises modern education, team projects and close contact between students and lecturers. Bachelor’s programmes typically last 3 years and master’s programmes 2 years, which allows graduates to enter the international job market quickly. Degrees from Danish universities are recognised throughout Europe and open doors to global companies — particularly in the technology, business and natural sciences sectors.

It is worth knowing that the Danish higher education system is diverse. It encompasses academic universities, university colleges, business academies and arts schools. Each type of institution has a slightly different philosophy — ranging from strongly theoretical to practical, with compulsory internships. A conscious choice of pathway influences the style of study and subsequent career.

Good universities in Denmark require candidates to be well prepared in terms of subject knowledge. Many technical or economics programmes have clearly defined requirements regarding hours of mathematics, physics or chemistry studied at secondary school level. Overlooking this issue can close the door even for a student with very good grades. That is why the earlier we start planning, the greater the chance that the student’s profile will fit perfectly with the requirements of their dream university — and this translates into a better start, a stronger network of contacts and a more competitive position on the job market in the future.

What does the application process for studying in Denmark look like?

On most programmes, admission is based on document review rather than traditional entrance examinations. This sounds straightforward, but it is precisely this model that can be deceptive — admissions committees compare candidates from all over the world on the basis of grades, a record of subject hours and language certificates. The details make the difference.

The most important elements of the application process for studying in Denmark that we focus on with our students:

  • Language of study — programmes are most often taught in English, so a certificate is required: IELTS, TOEFL or CAE. Some universities accept their own internal test.
  • Subject requirements — universities check how many hours of mathematics, English, chemistry or physics a student completed at secondary school.
  • The Polish matura — it is recognised, but converted according to specific rules, and choosing the extended level in the relevant subjects is of great importance.
  • Application deadline — the quota system in Denmark does not forgive late submissions; applications submitted after the deadline are generally not considered at all.

Working methodology — what does preparation with MonPat Education look like?

We work with each student individually, based on a realistic action plan. We begin with a thorough analysis of the student’s profile — their grades, subject hours, strengths and areas to catch up on. On this basis, we prepare an application roadmap that takes into account specific universities, programmes and deadlines.

After each session, the parent and student receive brief feedback with information on what has been done, what progress is visible and what the next step is. We are also available between meetings — we answer questions, advise on choosing additional courses and respond whenever doubts arise during the application process. As a result, no one is left alone with a calendar full of deadlines or with forms in a foreign language.

Why do parents and students choose our programme?

  • Mentors from the world’s best universities — our tutors are graduates of Cambridge, Oxford and other leading universities who know the international admissions system from the inside.
  • A clear plan and regular progress — the student knows what they are doing and why; the parent sees concrete results after each stage.
  • Development of academic thinking — we teach not only to pass exams, but also develop the ability to analyse, argue and work with unfamiliar material.
  • Support at every stage of the process — from the first consultation through to the final submission of the application.

Scope of support in the “Studying in Denmark” programme

Studying in Denmark is the beginning of a greater educational journey

The decision to study abroad often takes shape during secondary school — or even earlier. That is why, if your child has not yet sat their final exams, it is worth building a solid foundation now. The IB and A-Levels international baccalaureate programmes are highly valued by Danish universities and significantly ease the application process. For students of the Polish matura, on the other hand, strengthening selected subjects may be key — we offer tutoring in mathematics, English, physics and chemistry, which very often prove decisive in gaining a place on a specific programme.

It is also worth bearing in mind that Denmark is not the only option. Our students also apply to universities in the Netherlands, Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States. Thanks to a comprehensive view of the candidate’s profile, we help choose the country and university best matched to the student’s personality, interests and professional goals. This is not applying blindly — it is a conscious investment in the future.

Studying abroad changes your perspective, broadens your horizons and creates a network of contacts for years to come. Better preparation means a better university, and a better university means a stronger start to your career — in Denmark, in Europe and around the world. We invite you to a free consultation during which we will together assess which path will be best for your child.
