Choosing a field of study in Poland

Choosing a field of study in Poland – an informed decision that will pay off for years

You are facing one of the most important decisions in your life and don’t know which course will be right? Hundreds of courses, dozens of universities, family pressure, and time that is relentlessly running towards admissions. Choosing a field of study in Poland is not just ticking a box on the admissions form – it is a decision that will affect the next 3, 5, and often a dozen or more years of professional life. At MonPat Education we help school leavers and their parents go through this process in an organised, conscious way, based on a real analysis of aptitudes and the current market situation.

Our Poland studies advice combines a diagnosis of the student’s potential with knowledge of what the job market really looks like in 2026, what the point thresholds are for individual courses, and which universities offer the best conditions for development. The first consultation is completely free – we treat it as the moment when we get to know the student, their ambitions, and their doubts, and then jointly sketch out a realistic action plan.

Who is this service for?

Our support is used mainly by students in the final years of high school and technical school, who are facing the choice of an academic path, but also by students in younger years planning their future in advance. It is also for parents who want to really support their child in the decision – not by imposing their own vision, but by providing the child with reliable tools and information.

The service is particularly valuable for people who:

  • do not know which field of study to choose, because they are interested in different fields and find it difficult to narrow down the choice,
  • want to study in Poland, but also consider studies abroad as an alternative or supplement,
  • have a specific idea for themselves, but need verification of whether their plan is realistic in the context of grades, aptitudes, and point thresholds,
  • are aiming for highly competitive courses, such as medicine, psychology, law, or technical fields,
  • are studying in the Polish system and need a strategy for matching the Matura to the chosen courses.

We work both with students sitting the Polish Matura and with people in IB and A-Level programmes, who are considering Polish universities as one of the application options.

Why is the informed choice of course so important?

In Poland, every year thousands of students drop out of their studies after the first or second year – most often because the choice of course was random, dictated by fashion or pressure from the surroundings. This is not only wasted time, but also real emotional and financial costs for the family. An informed decision, based on the analysis of interests, aptitudes, and career prospects, drastically reduces the risk of such a situation.

Current data from the 2025/2026 admissions show clear trends: the most popular courses are psychology, medicine, management, and law, but the competition for them is very high. Computer science, despite excellent career prospects, is recording declines in interest of over 9 thousand candidates year on year – which means a real chance for those considering this course. Biotechnology and international relations maintain stable popularity, and technical courses such as mechanics or machine building guarantee low unemployment of graduates.

To put it simply: a good choice of field of study is not just four years at university. It is the first job, the network of contacts, the possibility of going abroad, the prestige of the diploma, and the salary ceiling for the next decades. A bad decision often means the need to change course, extend studies, or retrain already at the age of 25–30. Help with choosing studies at the right stage is an investment that pays off many times over – not only in the form of a better university, but also a stronger start to adulthood.

How do we work with the student and parent?

Our methodology results from 10 years of experience in educational advice and from the fact that our mentors are graduates of Cambridge, Oxford, and other top universities worldwide. We know not only what the Polish, but also the international academic system looks like – which allows us to show students a broader perspective.

We start the process with a thorough diagnosis: we analyse grades, the profile of interests, aptitudes, achievements to date, and how the student works under pressure and what really drives them. On this basis we build a list of realistic options for courses and universities – not in order to impose a choice, but so that the student can consciously narrow down the decision field. After each session we provide brief feedback, so that the parent knows exactly what stage their child is at and what conclusions we have drawn from the conversation.

Why do parents and students choose us?

  • a clear action plan (roadmap) – from the first consultation to the moment of submitting the admissions documents,
  • regular contact also between sessions, when questions or doubts arise,
  • we work on specifics – point thresholds, assessments of the Polish Accreditation Committee, real career prospects,
  • we combine advice with analysis of the job market, aptitude tests, and information about the realities of studying at specific universities,
  • progress reports and clear communication at every stage – the parent is never left in the dark.

We also deal with what you will not find in university brochures: the realities of the academic style of work, the requirements of specific lecturers, the culture of studying at individual faculties. This is knowledge that we have acquired through years of work with hundreds of students applying to UW, UJ, SGH, Warsaw University of Technology, Medical Universities, and foreign universities.

Scope of support in choosing a field of study

As part of the help with choosing studies service, we offer a comprehensive diagnostic and advisory process, which includes:

  • analysis of the student’s profile – interests, strengths, style of work, and aptitudes,
  • career aptitude tests adapted to Polish admissions realities,
  • a review of available types of studies: bachelor’s, engineering, single-cycle master’s (medicine, law, psychology), second-cycle studies, and bilingual programmes,
  • analysis of groups of courses – artistic, biological-natural, economic, humanities, medical, legal, social, technical, and tourism-sports,
  • verification of point thresholds and admissions strategy taking into account the choice of subjects in the Matura,
  • analysis of the job market and career prospects for the courses under consideration,
  • support in choosing a specific university and comparing study programmes,
  • an admissions plan – deadlines, documents, any entrance exams or admissions interviews,
  • the possibility of combining advice with subject tutoring and Matura preparation.

We adapt each of these elements to the student’s individual situation – we work differently with a person aiming for medicine, differently with a candidate for art courses, and differently again with a student considering economics or technical studies.

Studies in Poland are not the only option – we show the whole perspective

Many students come to us thinking about studies in Poland, but during the advisory process it turns out that their profile fits foreign universities equally well. It is worth knowing that good Matura results open the doors not only to Polish universities – it is also a ticket to studies in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Ireland, Denmark, Italy, or the United States.

If the student is considering medicine, we have experience in admissions to medical studies in Ireland and Italy. For people with academic ambitions, we have prepared the flagship Oxbridge Programme, i.e. comprehensive application support for Oxford and Cambridge – where the Matura alone is not enough, and the key is to build the candidate’s profile, prepare for entrance tests, and mock interviews conducted by people who have themselves been or are examiners at these universities.

The comprehensiveness of our offer means that a student who starts with a consultation about choosing a Polish course may discover during the process that their dreams can reach further. We also offer subject tutoring, preparation for the Polish Matura, the IB and A-Level programmes, language courses (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge C1 Advanced), and academic mentoring. All in one place, with a team that knows education systems from the inside.

An informed choice of a field of study in Poland starts with a conversation. Do not wait until the last months before the Matura – the sooner we start work, the more options open up for you or your child. We effectively support students on the way to the best Polish universities, such as UW, UJ, SGH, Warsaw University of Technology, or medical universities, but we also help to take a broader perspective and consider foreign alternatives.

The first consultation is free – it is the moment when we get to know the student, their situation, ambitions, and doubts. Without obligation, without pressure. 60 minutes is enough to organise thoughts and see which paths are realistic.
