IB MYP tutoring

IB MYP tutoring – a solid foundation for the International Baccalaureate and studying abroad

The IB MYP (Middle Years Programme) is the first, crucial stage of the international education pathway — and it determines how well your child will cope later with the IB Diploma Programme examinations and with applications to universities abroad. Many students and parents face the same challenge: the programme is demanding, based on English-language materials, research projects, and assessment criteria that Polish schools do not teach beforehand. On top of this comes the pressure of the entrance examination for the IB year group — in English, Polish, and mathematics — which determines a place at a prestigious IB-licensed secondary school.

Our IB MYP online tutoring addresses this problem comprehensively. We prepare students both for the entrance examination into the IB MYP year group and for confident, steady progress within the programme itself — from mathematics, through the sciences and languages, to the Personal Project. We work with graduates of Cambridge, Oxford, and other leading universities who know the IB system inside out. The first consultation is completely free of charge, so you can take your time to check whether our approach suits your child’s needs.

Who is IB MYP tutoring for?

Our support is used primarily by:

  • students in years 7–8 of primary school who are preparing for the entrance examination for the IB MYP year group for the 2026/2027 school year,
  • students in years 1–2 of secondary school who are already following the MYP programme at Polish bilingual IB-licensed schools,
  • students at bilingual schools in years 6–9 of primary school who need support with their ongoing studies in line with the IB criteria,
  • ambitious students planning ultimately to sit the IB Diploma Programme and study abroad (UK, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, the United States, Italy, Ireland),
  • parents who want predictable results and visibility over their child’s learning process — particularly where they are unfamiliar with the IB structure and assessment system.

We often hear: “My child has good grades at their Polish school, so they will definitely get into the IB year group.” This is a myth. The entrance examination for the Middle Years Programme tests not only knowledge, but above all a way of thinking, the ability to work with text in English, and logical mathematical problem-solving. It is an entirely different format from a test at a Polish school.

Why is the IB MYP such an important stage?

The MYP is not a separate “course of study” — it is the foundation for the IB Diploma Programme, which in turn opens doors to virtually every university in the world. Students who build solid competences during the MYP find the demands of the IB DP significantly more manageable — and the difference between “understanding the topic” and “writing to the IB mark scheme” can be decisive for final grades.

In practice, the MYP prepares students in three key areas that determine success in later education:

  • analytical thinking and academic writing — the foundation for science subjects, economics, business, and history at IB DP level,
  • working with texts and constructing arguments — essential for Language & Literature, History, and Global Politics,
  • independent project work — the Personal Project is the first serious training for the later Internal Assessments, Extended Essay, and academic writing at university.

It is also worth keeping the long-term perspective in mind. Better preparation in MYP → stronger results in IB DP → a better university → a stronger network → greater career opportunities. Students who do not develop IB-criteria-aligned working habits during the MYP often waste valuable time catching up on the basics later. Yet HL Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics — for which the MYP builds the foundation — are prerequisites for applications to medicine, biochemistry, and engineering programmes at universities abroad.

How we work — an approach that delivers real results

Our tutoring is built on tailoring sessions to the specific school and the specific student. Preparation for the entrance examination at one IB school differs from preparation for another — we know these differences and factor them into the study plan. Every collaboration begins with a diagnostic: we assess the student’s level, identify gaps, and together establish a concrete action plan (roadmap).

Why do parents and students choose us?

  • after every session we provide brief feedback for both the parent and the student, so it is always clear what stage the preparation has reached,
  • we work on real materials — past papers, sample entrance examinations, IB criteria (levels 1–7) — rather than general textbooks,
  • we maintain contact between sessions — the student can ask a question, share a project for review, or ask for help before a test,
  • we report progress regularly, so parents can see concrete improvement,
  • our tutors have often been IB students or examiners themselves — they know exactly what assessors look for when marking work,
  • all sessions are conducted entirely online, at times convenient for the student, regardless of where they live.

Our goal is not to “get through the material” — it is to build the student’s confidence, independence, and academic habits that will serve them throughout the IB DP and beyond into university.

What IB MYP tutoring covers

We provide support across the full range of topics related to the Middle Years Programme and IB school admissions:

  • preparation for the IB MYP entrance examination — English, Polish, and mathematics, in the format used for the 2026/2027 admissions process,
  • training for the interview conducted in English — strategy, typical questions, presenting the student’s own interests,
  • ongoing subject tutoring at MYP level (mathematics, languages, sciences, humanities) in line with the IB criteria,
  • support with school projects and the Personal Project — from planning and research through to editing and the final presentation,
  • developing academic English and academic writing skills,
  • working with texts, argumentation, and source analysis,
  • strategies for time management and examination stress,
  • individual consultations for parents on the IB structure and planning their child’s educational pathway.

Every study plan is tailored individually — depending on whether the student is preparing for the admissions process, needs ongoing support, or is working on a specific project.

A natural pathway: from MYP to the world’s leading universities

IB MYP tutoring is only the beginning of a journey along which we can guide your child all the way to applications to the world’s best universities. Solid foundations built during the MYP translate into stronger results in the IB Diploma Programme, which in turn produce genuine opportunities in admissions to universities in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, and the United States.

At MonPat Education we provide comprehensive support at every stage of this journey — from preparation for the IB secondary school, through MYP tutoring and subject selection for the IB DP, to support with the Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, and TOK, language courses (IELTS, TOEFL), and preparation for university admissions tests abroad. Our flagship programme is comprehensive application support for Ivy League and Oxbridge — for students who want to aim for the very top of global higher education.

The earlier we begin — ideally at the MYP stage — the greater the advantage your child will build. It is not only about grades. It is about a way of thinking, independence, and confidence that make the difference in interviews at Cambridge, Oxford, and LSE.

Book a free consultation

Start with a no-obligation conversation. During the free initial consultation we will analyse your child’s situation, identify which IB school is worth applying to, assess their level of preparation for the entrance examination, and propose a concrete action plan. No vague generalities — just numbers, deadlines, and a clear roadmap.
