A-Level Chemistry Tutoring
A-Levels Chemistry tutoring – comprehensive preparation for the chemistry exam in the British system
A-Level Chemistry is one of the most demanding subjects in the British education system – it combines advanced theory, precise calculations, and the ability to analyse experimental data. Many students understand the material but lose marks on the style of their answers, incorrect interpretation of “exam-style questions”, or errors in working with the mark scheme. A-Levels Chemistry tutoring at MonPat Education solves this problem. We work 1-on-1, based on the official grading criteria of AQA, Edexcel, CIE, and OCR.
Our students are guided by graduates of Cambridge, Oxford, and other top universities, who have themselves been through the A-Levels system and know how the examiner thinks. Thanks to this, the student not only masters the material, but also learns to earn the maximum number of marks – which translates into better predicted grades, a stronger application for studies abroad, and greater self-confidence before the exam session. The first consultation is free, so you can calmly check whether our way of working suits your child’s needs.

Who is A-Levels Chemistry tutoring for?
Our offer is used mainly by students of international schools and Polish students taking A-Levels in English. Parents most often come to us when predicted grades are lower than the student’s real potential, when difficulties arise with specific areas of chemistry (e.g. organic, kinetics, chemical equilibria), or when there is no stability of results between successive mock exams.
- students of international and British schools in Poland and abroad,
- students of Polish high schools taking the A-Levels programme in parallel with the Polish Matura,
- candidates for medicine, pharmacy, biochemistry, chemistry, and engineering courses in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, or the USA,
- students who need to catch up on gaps or prepare for a retake,
- students wanting to obtain an A* and strengthen their application for studies in the United Kingdom, including Oxbridge.
We work both with students for whom chemistry is the leading subject, and with those who treat it as support for another direction – e.g. A-Level Biology for an application to medicine.
Why is A-Level Chemistry so important for your application?
A-Level Chemistry is a subject that opens (or closes) the doors to the most selective courses of study. Without a high chemistry grade, there is no real chance of medicine in the UK, Natural Sciences at Cambridge, Chemistry at Oxford, Biochemistry at Imperial College London, or competitive programmes in the Netherlands or Ireland. Many universities require an A or A* grade, and some courses additionally impose a condition of a specific result from the practical module.
What’s more, chemistry is one of the subjects in which examiners most strongly reward deep understanding, not memorisation. “Exam-style” tasks require the ability to combine facts from different areas, work with experimental data, and correct chemical reasoning under time pressure. These are exactly the skills that later decide success during entrance exams (e.g. UCAT, IMAT) and Oxbridge interviews.
It is worth thinking about A-Level Chemistry in a wider perspective: better preparation → a better result → a better university → a stronger network of contacts → greater career opportunities. This is not “just another exam” – it is an investment that pays off over the next 10–20 years of your child’s professional life. That is why it is worth taking care of solid foundations already at the A-Levels stage.
Working methodology – how we run A-Levels Chemistry tutoring
Every student begins cooperation with a diagnosis: we check the current level, knowledge of the examiner’s specification (AQA, Edexcel, CIE, OCR), and weak points on the basis of past papers. On this basis, we build an individual work plan – with specific weekly and monthly goals, and a perspective for the whole exam session. The student knows what they are doing, why, and what result they can expect.
We run lessons online (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, virtual whiteboard) at flexible hours – including evenings and weekends. Each lesson focuses on a specific issue and ends with solving tasks in exam style, so that we can see straight away whether the student not only understands the topic, but is also able to earn marks in accordance with the mark scheme. After each session, the student and parent receive brief feedback: what is working, what needs refining, and what the plan for the next meeting is.
Why do parents and students choose us?
- a clear action plan (roadmap) – it is known what is happening at each stage, rather than “we’ll study and see”,
- regular progress reports – the parent sees specific data, not general declarations,
- contact between lessons – a question from homework can also be asked outside the lesson,
- work on official past papers and mark schemes – the student knows the style of their examiner,
- teachers who have themselves sat A-Levels and studied at top universities – they know the system from the inside,
- correlation of lessons with the application plan – if the student is aiming for medicine or Oxbridge, we tailor the material to additional entrance exams.
Scope of support within A-Levels Chemistry tutoring
The programme of lessons covers the full scope of the A-Levels specification – from AS to A2 level – with emphasis on the areas that statistically account for the greatest loss of marks. We adapt the material to the examiner (AQA, Edexcel, CIE, OCR), the student’s year, and the application goal.
- atomic structure, chemical bonding, structures and properties of compounds,
- stoichiometry, chemical calculations, chemical equilibria, kinetics, and thermochemistry,
- organic chemistry: hydrocarbons, functional groups, reaction mechanisms, isomerism,
- inorganic chemistry and qualitative analysis,
- analysis of experimental data, graphs, measurement errors,
- “exam-style” tasks and full past papers in exam conditions,
- preparation for the practical part (Practical Endorsement),
- revision strategy and time management during the exam,
- support with mock exams and interpretation of results.
For students who need additional support in other subjects, a natural complement is A-Levels tutoring in mathematics, physics, or biology. The whole offer is available on the A-Levels page.
A-Levels Chemistry tutoring and applications to foreign studies
At MonPat Education we treat A-Levels Chemistry tutoring as part of a much wider puzzle. An excellent chemistry result is the foundation, but on its own it does not win a place at Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial College, or LSE. What also counts is a thoughtful choice of universities, a tailored Personal Statement, preparation for entrance tests (e.g. TSA Oxford, MAT, UCAT, IMAT), and solidly worked-through mock interviews.
That is why for students aiming at prestigious universities, we recommend reading our flagship programme – comprehensive application support and dedicated grade analysis and university selection in the UK. Thanks to this, the chemistry that your child masters in lessons immediately “works” on the application, instead of being just another exam to pass.
If you want to talk about your child’s educational path, tailor the scope of support, and put together a plan for the coming months – book a free consultation. Together we will check what stage the student is at, what is worth changing, and how to see results as quickly as possible.
