Support in Extended Essay and TOK
Support with Extended Essay and TOK – professional help with key IB components
Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge are two assignments that can determine the final result of the International Baccalaureate. Although many students handle IB subjects well, EE and TOK require entirely different skills – independent research, academic writing and critical reflection on knowledge. This is precisely where difficulties most often arise: a research question that is too broad, a chaotic structure, a lack of connection between theory and examples, or an inconsistent citation style. Support with Extended Essay and TOK is a service that guides students from their first idea through to the final version of their work – in line with current IBO criteria and with the maximum number of points in mind.
Our mentors – graduates of Cambridge, Oxford and other leading universities – know the IB programme inside out. They know what examiners look for, what mistakes most often cost points, and how to build a piece of work that truly stands out from the rest. The first consultation is free – it is a good opportunity to find out how we can help with your EE or TOK.

Who is Support with Extended Essay and TOK for?
Our help is used primarily by IB Diploma students who want their research work and TOK assignments to genuinely improve their final IB score. This solution is particularly effective when:
- a student is just starting work on their EE and does not know how to choose a subject and a research question that will be both interesting and achievable;
- a topic has already been chosen, but there is no idea for the structure of the work, the methodology or how to analyse the data collected;
- the text is half-written and needs substantive and linguistic proofreading in line with IBO criteria;
- a student is having difficulty interpreting Theory of Knowledge prompts, selecting real-life situations, or building arguments using a claim–counterclaim structure;
- the deadline for the TOK Essay or TOK Exhibition is approaching and a student needs to organise the material and learn how to present it in accordance with the programme’s requirements;
- parents want to be sure that their child will not be left alone with a 4,000-word research paper and has real, expert support throughout the process.
We work both with students aiming for a predicted grade of 40+ points and with those who simply want to complete the IB core programme calmly and without stress.
Why are EE and TOK so important for your future?
Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge are not “extra” elements of the IB – they are part of the programme’s core, which together contribute up to 3 additional points to the total International Baccalaureate score. Those three points can make the difference between gaining a place on a dream course and having to settle for a backup university. With admission thresholds for medicine, natural sciences at Cambridge, engineering and economics at LSE, every point counts.
Moreover, foreign universities treat the Extended Essay as evidence of a candidate’s academic ability – it shows whether a student can formulate a research question, plan a study, critically analyse sources and write in an academic style. These are skills that will be part of everyday life at Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College and leading Dutch and Scandinavian universities. A well-written EE can also be an excellent talking point in a Personal Statement and during an admissions interview – examiners are keen to ask about a topic the candidate chose and explored themselves.
TOK, in turn, develops the kind of thinking that the world’s best universities demand: asking difficult questions, recognising different perspectives and making conscious use of sources of knowledge. A student who works through TOK thoroughly is simply better prepared for tutorial-style study and for an interview in the Oxbridge supervision style. Looking at the long term: better results in EE and TOK → a higher overall IB score → a stronger application → a better university → a wider network of contacts and greater career opportunities.
Our working methodology – why parents and students choose us
We work on a 1:1 basis, adapting the pace and scope to the individual student, their EE subject and their chosen TOK topic. Every collaboration begins with an assessment: what stage the student is at, how much time remains before the submission deadline, and what their strengths and weaknesses are as a writer. On this basis we draw up a clear work roadmap – with specific milestones, deadlines and the scope of each session. This way, no one is left alone with a blank page and a deadline a month away.
After each session the student receives brief feedback – what went well, what needs improvement and exactly what they should prepare for the next meeting. Parents are kept up to date on their child’s progress: whether the topic has been approved, whether the outline is ready, whether the introduction meets the IBO criteria. We stay in touch between sessions – if a student gets stuck on a paragraph at midnight before a deadline, they have someone to contact. For many families, this sense of continuous support is just as important as the substantive guidance itself.
In working on EE we use markscheme and IBO criteria analysis, modelling correct responses, working from specific examples of past papers, and multiple rounds of revision – both substantive and linguistic. In TOK we focus on understanding prompts, selecting relevant real-life situations, building argumentation using the claim–counterclaim–conclusion structure, and preparing a coherent, well-structured Exhibition or presentation.

EE and TOK are just the beginning – comprehensive IB and university application support
Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge are important elements of the International Baccalaureate, but they rarely exist in isolation from the rest of the programme. If you want to achieve the maximum IB score, it is worth taking a broader view – of the student’s entire profile. That is why our support with EE and TOK naturally connects with IB tutoring in individual subjects, support with Internal Assessment and comprehensive preparation for the IB exams.
If you are planning to study in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Ireland, Denmark, Italy or the United States, a strong result in EE and TOK will be an important argument in your application – but not the only one. The Personal Statement, interview preparation and admissions tests such as TSA Oxford, LNAT, UCAT and IMAT also matter. Our flagship programme is a comprehensive application to Ivy League and Oxbridge universities, but we also support students aiming for less obvious yet equally prestigious paths.
As a result, a student who comes to us for help with their Extended Essay gains access to a complete support ecosystem: from subject tutoring, through academic mentoring, to the final university application. Our alumni study at, among others, Cambridge, Oxford, LSE and Imperial College London, as well as at leading Polish universities such as the University of Warsaw, Jagiellonian University and SGH Warsaw School of Economics. Everything begins, however, with one well-guided research paper and one solidly written TOK essay.
