OJAJ English Language Olympiad
OJAJ English Language Olympiad – comprehensive preparation for the most prestigious language competition for primary school students
Many talented students in years 4–8 do very well at English in school, but when they face olympiad tasks, they lose their confidence. The reason is simple: the OJAJ English Language Olympiad requires a completely different level of competence than everyday lessons. It is a competition reaching C1 CEFR level, where success depends not only on knowledge of grammar and vocabulary, but also on linguistic intuition, the ability to analyse texts, and fluent communication during the oral interview. Our OJAJ English Language Olympiad preparation is a bespoke programme that guides students from their first practice tasks all the way to the final in Poznań – with full mentor support, a clear action plan, and regular feedback.
Thanks to classes with experienced tutors – graduates of leading British and Polish universities – students gain an advantage that no ordinary English lesson can provide. We work with real tasks from previous editions of the competition, practise structures that go beyond the primary school curriculum, and step by step build academic competencies that will also prove useful in secondary school, at the matura exam, and in further education.

Who is this programme for?
The programme is aimed primarily at students in years 4–8 of primary school, with a particular focus on years 7 and 8, who want to make the most of their linguistic potential and compete for results that go beyond the school curriculum. This is a proposal for students who:
- are “good at school” but have never been trained on problem-based tasks – which is precisely what the olympiad requires,
- want to earn points added to their school certificate, which genuinely affect admission to the best secondary schools,
- are planning to pursue the IB international baccalaureate or A-Levels in the future and want to start building the profile of an ambitious candidate at primary school level,
- dream of studying abroad and need documented academic achievements,
- demonstrate advanced language skills and need an environment that genuinely challenges and develops them.
Parents most often come to us when they see that their child has “outgrown” ordinary English lessons, but do not know how to channel their potential towards a specific, measurable goal.
Why is OJAJ more than just a competition?
The OJAJ English language competition is one of the strongest distinctions a primary school student can include in their academic portfolio. The olympiad is organised by the S.B. Linde University of Foreign Languages in Poznań on behalf of the Ministry of National Education, and its result is recorded on the school certificate and carries real weight during admission to the best secondary schools in Poland.
But that is only the beginning. Success in a language olympiad at the age of 13–14 is an investment that pays dividends throughout years of education. A student who has worked through C1 CEFR tasks and performed well in the oral interview at the final enters secondary school with a completely different level of confidence and competence. It becomes easier to pass IELTS Academic, TOEFL, or Cambridge C1 Advanced, and easier to enter the English Language Olympiad at secondary school level.
In practice, the path looks like this: better preparation → better results → a stronger candidate profile → a better university → a wider network of contacts → greater career opportunities. For a student thinking about studying at British universities, in the Netherlands, or in the United States, olympiad achievements are one of the strongest arguments in an application – admissions committees read them as evidence that the candidate is capable of working at a level that goes beyond the school curriculum.
How do we run OJAJ English olympiad training?
Our methodology is based on a concrete, academic approach, delivered in a way that is accessible to younger students. OJAJ English olympiad training combines intensive language work with elements of analytical thinking preparation – so that students not only know the answers, but understand the logic behind olympiad tasks.
Each student receives an individually tailored plan that takes into account their strengths and weaknesses, their school timetable, and their pace of work. After each session we provide brief but specific feedback – so that parents have a full picture of their child’s progress. We continuously analyse the results of practice tasks, discuss mistakes, and adjust our strategy accordingly. We stay in contact between sessions – if a student has a question about homework or is worried about an upcoming school-stage test, they can count on a quick response from their mentor.
Why do parents and students choose us?
- We work with archived OJAJ tasks from all stages – school, semi-final, and final – so students enter the competition with real experience, not just theory.
- Our tutors are graduates of Cambridge, Oxford, and other leading universities – they know the examination system from the inside and understand how to think in English at an academic level.
- We simulate the oral stage of the Poznań final – students practise the interview in conditions as close to the real thing as possible, so that on the day of the competition neither the format nor the nerves will catch them off guard.
- We develop linguistic intuition, which is key in C1-level tasks – we teach students to “feel” the language, not just mechanically analyse it.
- We prepare students for the qualifying threshold (a minimum of 20 points from the written test in the first school stage and at least 75% of points in subsequent stages), showing concrete strategies for time management and risk management during the test.
- We work with literature that goes beyond textbooks – we introduce authentic texts, idiomatic vocabulary, and constructions that genuinely appear in olympiad tasks.
- The first consultation is free of charge – during it we assess the student’s level and show the best path forward.
Scope of support in OJAJ preparation
Our preparation programme covers all the elements needed for an effective start in the olympiad:
- analysis of the scope of requirements and an initial assessment of the student’s level,
- work on archived olympiad tasks from all three stages,
- extended theory going beyond the primary school curriculum,
- training in reasoning, text analysis, and vocabulary work at B2/C1 level,
- preparation for the oral stage – mock interviews, pronunciation exercises, fluency, and argumentation,
- error analysis and individual strategies for eliminating them,
- regular project consultations and feedback after each session,
- psychological and motivational support at the semi-final and final stages.
Parents see not only the final result, but the genuine development of their child’s competencies – from task-solving techniques, through fluency of expression, to confidence during a conversation in a foreign language.
The OJAJ olympiad as the first step towards studying abroad
It is worth remembering that the OJAJ English Language Olympiad is not an end in itself – it is the beginning of a much broader educational journey. At MonPat Education we support students comprehensively: from olympiads at primary school level, through preparation for the IB secondary school diploma, all the way to applications to the world’s most prestigious universities – Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, and Imperial College London.
A student who begins working at an academic level early has an advantage that cannot be made up in the final year of secondary school. International admissions are selective and reward deep understanding, not merely knowledge of the curriculum. So if you are thinking long-term about studying in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, or the USA – it is well worth starting now. Our offer also includes English language tutoring at primary and secondary school level, courses for the English Language Olympiad at secondary school level, and comprehensive admissions consulting.
If you would like to talk about how best to prepare your child for OJAJ and which next steps are worth planning – book a free consultation. We will assess the student’s level, propose a realistic plan, and show you how to turn potential into a concrete achievement.
