We work both with students who already have the beginnings of a portfolio and want to refine it, and with students who are just starting work on their first projects. Among our students are candidates for architecture, industrial design, fashion design, graphic design, photography, illustration, animation, painting, and interdisciplinary programmes combining art with technology.<\/p>\n<p>The workshops are also for students applying to Polish art schools (the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Krak\u00f3w, and Gda\u0144sk) who want to improve their chances in a highly competitive admissions process. <strong>Good grades are not enough<\/strong> \u2013 admissions committees at fine arts schools assess ways of thinking, craft awareness, and individual creative voice. Our task is to help the student find that voice and present it in a way that will be noticed.<\/p>\n<h2>Why is the portfolio the most important thing?<\/h2>\n<p>At art schools, <strong>the portfolio is the most important application document<\/strong> \u2013 more important than results from the Matura, IB, or A-Levels. The quality of the work matters, but equally important are: variety of craft, coherence of narrative, awareness of process, and the ability to develop an idea. Committees look not only at the final result, but also at sketches, experiments, and the way in which design solutions are reached.<\/p>\n<p>The question of <strong>how to build a portfolio for art school<\/strong> has no single answer \u2013 because each university has its own guidelines. Royal College of Art expects something different from Politecnico di Milano. Parsons in New York focuses on different things than Design Academy Eindhoven. The format of works, the number of projects, the way the process is presented, the requirements for a sketchbook \u2013 all of this varies depending on the university and the course. That is why a good <strong>portfolio for art school<\/strong> cannot be universal \u2013 it must be tailored to a specific admissions process.<\/p>\n<p>In the long run, a strong portfolio is more than just a ticket to university. It is a student&#8217;s first creative calling card, one they will return to throughout the coming years of their career. <strong>A better portfolio leads to a better university, and a better university means a stronger network of contacts<\/strong>, access to industry exhibitions, internships at the biggest design studios and ateliers. It is an investment that pays dividends throughout an entire career in the creative sector.<\/p>\n<h2>How do we work during the workshops?<\/h2>\n<p>Each student receives an individual plan \u2013 a roadmap with milestones, university deadlines, and stages of work on successive projects. We work in a cycle of sessions, during which we analyse current work, discuss the next tasks, and jointly decide which directions to develop. <strong>After each session the student receives brief feedback<\/strong> with specific guidance: which works to keep, what to refine, which new projects are worth starting. This allows the student to work purposefully between meetings, and gives parents visibility of real progress.<\/p>\n<p>Why do parents and students choose our workshops? Because they are run by people who know the system from the inside. Our mentors have themselves been through admissions processes at leading art schools; many of them have participated in admissions committees or teach at university level. They know what jurors are really looking for when assessing portfolios, and what interviews at individual schools are like.<\/p>\n<p>During the workshops, the student works not only on individual pieces, but on the overall portfolio narrative \u2013 the order in which projects are presented, accompanying descriptions, and documentation of the creative process.
