are building a candidate profile for prestigious universities abroad, for whom a subject olympiad is a major distinguishing factor in an application.

In our experience, the greatest progress is made by students who begin preparation sufficiently early – ideally one or two years before their planned participation.

Why it is worth taking part in the German Language Olympiad

The benefits for laureates and finalists of the German Language Olympiad are tangible. A laureate automatically receives 100% on the German matura exam, which eases the matura timetable and allows the student to focus on other key subjects. On top of this come recruitment points at most Polish universities, direct entry to selected philological degree programmes, and material prizes.

But that is only the beginning. In the longer term, participation in the olympiad builds competencies that cannot be acquired in lessons – intellectual independence, work discipline, resilience under examination stress, and the ability to present arguments in German under considerable pressure. Better preparation leads to a better university, a better university leads to a stronger network of contacts, and that network leads to genuinely broader career opportunities – in international corporations, EU institutions, diplomacy, or academia. An olympiad on a candidate’s CV is a signal to academic recruiters that they are dealing with a person of above-average motivation.

What our German Language Olympiad training looks like

Our methodology differs from standard language tutoring. We work in a model close to academic tutoring – students not only solve tasks, but learn to understand why a given solution is correct, what the typical examiner traps are, and how to manage time effectively during a written stage lasting between 90 and 120 minutes.

Each student works with a mentor who knows the system from the inside – typically a graduate of a top university, often with experience working with the most demanding language material. After each session we provide brief feedback with clearly identified strengths, areas for improvement, and homework for the following week. Parents receive regular progress reports, so they always know at what stage of preparation their child is.

Why do parents and students choose us? Because they get what matters most in this process – a clear action plan, real examples of olympiad tasks from previous years, simulations of the oral stage with someone who has played the role of examiner, and ongoing contact between sessions. Questions asked the evening before the eliminations do not go unanswered. Students feel they are not alone with an 80-page study guide on the realities of the Federal Republic of Germany – they have someone who will help them organise the material and indicate what is genuinely worth revising before a given stage.

We work on all elements of the olympiad in parallel:

- advanced grammar – constructions rarely encountered in the school course but crucial at the second and third stages,

- thematic vocabulary – politics, history, culture, art, and the economies of DACH countries,

- translation in both directions – with an emphasis on register and naturalness of expression,

- country and cultural studies – in-depth knowledge of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein,

- preparation for the oral stage – recorded simulations, analysis of body language, work on fluency.
