Our sessions are attended primarily by students at IB Diploma schools in Poland and abroad who want to maximise their marks in Polish. The IB Polish examination<\/strong> is technically demanding in terms of writing \u2014 which is why our offer is particularly well suited to students who:<\/p>\n\n- are in a pre-IB class or in the first year of the IB Diploma Programme and want to understand the logic of the assessment criteria from the outset (you can read more about this stage in the pre-IB online tutoring section),<\/li>\n

We also assist parents who are unfamiliar with the IB structure and cannot assess whether their child is on the right trajectory. During the first consultation we explain how grading works, what weight each component carries, and what genuinely determines the final grade.<\/p>\n
Why Polish in the IB matters<\/h2>\n
For the majority of Polish IB students, Polish A is their mother tongue at literary level<\/strong> \u2014 and therefore, paradoxically, one of the greatest potential sources of marks in the entire diploma. A strong result in this subject can offset weaker performance in science subjects and significantly raise the total IB score that determines applications to universities abroad.<\/p>\nThe IB Polish examination tests not memory but academic thinking skills<\/strong>: constructing a thesis, building an argument, comparing texts, and demonstrating awareness of cultural context. These are precisely the competences assessed by admissions teams at Cambridge, Oxford, LSE, and universities in the Netherlands and Italy. Admissions tests such as the LNAT, TSA, and Oxbridge interviews ultimately test the same ability \u2014 close reading, formulating an argument, and defending a position.<\/p>\nInvestment in thorough preparation in Polish therefore has a long-term effect: a stronger IB result \u2192 a wider range of universities to which an application is realistic \u2192 a stronger academic network \u2192 better career opportunities<\/strong>. Polish A is not an “add-on” to the subjects at the centre of a student’s application \u2014 it is a foundation that demonstrates to a university that the candidate can engage with texts at degree level.<\/p>\nHow we run IB Polish tutoring \u2014 our approach<\/h2>\n
We work individually<\/strong>, tailoring the programme to each school’s reading list, the student’s profile, and their target grade. We do not use ready-made scripts \u2014 every plan begins with a diagnostic: we analyse a sample of the student’s work against the four IB criteria and identify where marks are being lost.<\/p>\nAfter every session the student receives brief written feedback: what went well, what needs improvement, and what to prepare specifically for the next lesson. Parents receive regular updates on progress and the current stage of preparation \u2014 there is never a situation in which they do not know what is happening between sessions. Our tutors are also available between sessions for quick questions: a brief doubt that arises while writing an essay does not have to wait until the next lesson.<\/p>\n
In practice, our tutoring is built around work with past papers<\/strong> and authentic examination examples. We train students in mark-scheme analysis<\/strong> \u2014 the student begins to assess their own work according to the IB criteria, which dramatically shortens the distance to a grade 6 or 7. We simulate examinations under timed conditions: SL Paper 1 is 1h 15m, HL Paper 1 is 2h 15m, and Paper 2 is 1h 45m at both SL and HL.
