Our offer is dedicated to students in the IB Diploma Programme who are taking geography at SL or HL and want to achieve a grade 6 or 7. It is also an excellent option for MYP and pre-IB students who want to build solid foundations before entering the full International Baccalaureate programme.

Our support is also used by:

- students who understand the topics in theory but lose marks in mock examinations because they are unfamiliar with the mark-scheme structure,

- students preparing their Internal Assessment who need a mentor with experience in fieldwork and research methodology,

- students planning to study abroad — in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Denmark, or Italy — where geography is a relevant subject for admissions purposes,

- students who are not satisfied with a previous result and are considering resitting the IB,

- parents who want to understand how the IB assessment system works and how to support their child on their educational journey.

Why is geography in the IB a worthwhile choice?

Geography in the IB programme bridges the sciences and the humanities — students analyse physical processes (rivers, climate, natural hazards), socio-economic phenomena (urbanisation, globalisation, migration), and develop systems thinking. These are competences that are highly valued by universities abroad — particularly British, Dutch, and Scandinavian institutions.

A strong result in IB geography (particularly at HL) opens doors to programmes such as human and economic geography, geoinformatics, spatial planning, tourism, logistics, economics, crisis management, oceanography, surveying, and cartography. Geography is also a relevant admissions subject for many environmental sciences and urban planning programmes at leading European universities.

It is worth keeping the broader perspective in mind: the IB diploma is a passport to prestigious universities around the world. Stronger results lead to a better university, a better university leads to a stronger academic and professional network, and that in turn leads to genuinely greater career opportunities. Investing in thorough examination preparation is a long-term investment whose effects remain visible many years after graduation.

Our approach — why parents and students choose MonPat Education

Our tutors are graduates of Cambridge, Oxford, and other leading universities worldwide who have been through the IB programme themselves and know it from the inside. Many of them work as examiners, which means they know exactly what assessors look for and how to construct answers to the assessment criteria.

Sessions begin with a thorough diagnostic of the student’s level — we analyse their previous work, identify gaps in knowledge, and assess their ability to interpret maps, graphs, and geographical data. On this basis we prepare an individual study plan (roadmap) that takes into account the IB examination calendar, IA submission deadlines, and the student’s application goals.

After every session the student and parent receive brief feedback — they know what was covered, what went well, and what to work on before the next lesson. We stay in contact between sessions — if a student gets stuck on an essay or has a question about their IA, they do not have to wait a week for an answer. Availability and continuity of support are values that define our approach.

During sessions we use our own materials alongside original IBO past papers. We simulate examination conditions, teach time management for Paper 1 and Paper 2, practise rapid interpretation of infographics and maps, and build a bank of case studies that the student can use in essays. It is this careful work with the mark scheme and past papers that produces the predictability of result that both students and their parents are looking for.
